I should look at Nevill's art closely. My last two examples don't resemble those of Neville.

My inspiration
My inspiration for Watts Tower advertisement is gonna be Neville Brody's Research studio. He is “The Face” Magazine and “Arena” Magazine, in the 80ʼsʼs. He also designed album covers for popular music artists,
I am interested in his design, because he can create a simplistic design just by using fonts, logos and paragraph.
An English graphic designer and typographer, who is most recognized
for his work on
and 90
including Depeche Mode. Neville Brody, along with his partner, Fwa
Richards, launched their own design practice in 1994, called Research
Studios. He is also a primary founding member of Fontworks.I am interested in his design, because he can create a simplistic design just by using fonts, logos and paragraph.

Revised mine again
Angela told me my piece is distracting because fonts and logos have similar sizes. So I fixed those things accordingly and the ad came out like this.

Working toward my final piece
This is what I am working toward final.
I changed the background to black and placed brand logos on the top. And reduced the size of catch phrase and increase the size of title. I would like to get anyone's comment before finalizing.

Another roughs
As Angela told me, I have done the roughs without pictures. What I learned from the process is that I have to know what advertisement has to emphasize. As doing the ad for music store, customers may look at brands for their music instruments. Second to that, people may look for cheaper price. If I consider these factors, I would be able to produce a perfectly revised bad ad.

My 1st roughs.
I have done my first roughs and here are examples. Angela has told me to get rid of pictures and redesign the ad just with fonts instead. I better use my head to find right ones.

Bad ad ideas.
1st assignment is about converting one of the bad ads into something interesting and remembered. I have chosen this one as my choice.
I haven't chosen fonts yet, however I was thinking about interesting praises such as "kickass music store in California" or "CALIFORNIA's most wanted music store." I am also thinking about music sheet as a background, but I have to see.

Good Ad and Bad ads
I am now comparing between good ads and bad ads. First of all, these are examples of good ads.
Those ads clearly show objects that they try to sell. The AAA Roadside assistance ad shows a mechanic changing a battery, indicating that they provide battery change assistance. The Sea World ad symbolizes two turtles to advertise their new Turtle Reef attraction.
And these are bad ads:
In general, these ads are really generic to look. In the case of Redondo Fun Factory ad, fonts are too mundane and their colors are too pale giving them an old look. Second one, the Pleasure Island, can deceive the viewers by its title, giving them false impression that it is a travel agency. If it is a sex toy shop, then they should be explicit by displaying female models or any of object.

My objective for Ad Design 1.
So class has started on Aug 30, 2011. What I hope to learn from this class is how to design advertisement effectively. Indeed, I have a knack for making an ad and selling products. Unfortunately, I don't know how to choose layout for my ad and pursuade customers. So by working with Angela, I surely believe the positive outcome after taking the class.
I am so lazy to post a blog.
Nowadays, I am becoming so lazy and don't bother to post anything. How sad. I should be more energetic and enthusiastic, but my will don't folow. Ugggghhhh....
